Aesthetics & Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative Medicine - Our Naturopathic Approach

Practicing regenerative medicine is a natural fit for a naturopathic doctor (ND). Regenerative therapies for pain and aesthetics stimulate the body to repair itself and can be a great alternative to more invasive procedures. Regenerative medicine for pain, skin, hair, and sexual optimization is also a perfect complement to bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, one of Utah Natural Medicine’s specialties. Just as hormones can help restore systemic function and vitality, regenerative medicine can be a spring board for healing potential too.

After your procedure, we will provide you with detailed post-procedure instructions and recommendations to maximize your results. This will include dietary and lifestyle guidelines, specific supplementation suggestions, and skin care if indicated. We are excited to offer some of the most modern technology in the regenerative field at Utah Natural Medicine.

Our PRP - APEX BIOLOGIX

We use the highest quality Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) processing system from APEX BIOLOGIX and use the revolutionary XCELL PRP kits. Not all PRP kits are the same, and APEX provides a superior and safe collection system that produces optimal, precise, and reproducible results. Using the latest technology, XCELL PRP is designed to generate a PRP concentration up to 9X

baseline and 7.5 billion platelets per 6.5mL dose, a higher concentration than many other systems. We have the flexibility with our system to process different concentrations of platelets or leukocytes, depending on the specific treatment.

Our MICRONEEDLING - SkinPen® by Bellus Medical

We use SkinPen® by Bellus Medical, the world’s first FDA-cleared and the only U.S. engineered and manufactured microneedling pen on the market. It is a Class II medical device that is clinically proven to improve the appearance of facial acne scars and remodel collagen. SkinPen® creates controlled micro-injuries to stimulate the body’s natural wound-healing process, whileminimizing cellular damage. Known as the gold standard in microneedling, it delivers superior reliability, safety, and performance. SkinPen® gives you the peace of mind you want, knowing it’s a product you can trust.

Our EXOSOMES - KIMERA LABS

Mesenchymal-stem cell (MSC)-derived exosomes are small, but extremely powerful packages of signaling messages that contain active growth factors responsible for signaling healing in damaged connective tissue. Exosomes are sourced from very young stem cells which
can confer a significant advantage in tissue regeneration and remodeling. Utah Natural Medicine purchases purified XoGloTM exosomes from Kimera Labs. Exosomes can be added to PRP for injections and may yield a more sustained effect than PRP alone.

Our Post-Procedure SKIN CARE - SKINFUSE®

How you treat your skin after microneedling is as important as the procedure itself in order to optimize your tissue regeneration. This is why we highly recommend the use of the SKINFUSE® POST-PROCEDURE PROTOCOL. When you do a series of three microneedling treatments, you will receive a kit with all of the skin care you need for 90 days, plus a collagen booster (SURGE) to be applied once weekly for 6 months. We recommend this skin care for three reasons:

1. It is formulated specifically for use after microneedling with our SkinPen® device.

2. It provides you with the right ingredients at the right time during the healing and remodeling period and omits ingredients the can hinder the rejuvenation process.

3. It works synergistically with the SkinPen® to optimize
your results. Studies show that it increases collagen by 433% and elastin by 193% more than when doing SkinPen microneeedling alone.

The SKINFUSE® POST-PROCEDURE PROTOCOL includes 5 products: 1) PURIFY Cleansing Complex 2) RESCUE Calming Complex 3) RECLAIM Hydrating Complex 4) FORTIFY Vitamin C Serum 5) SHIELD 21% Zinc Oxide Sunscreen

Additionally, Skinfuse® products are free from ingredients that can hinder or even potentially negate the benefits of the microneedling procedure. Ingredients you will NOT find in Skinfuse® are: Silicone, Dimethicone, Artificial Colors, Artificial fragrances, Sodium laurel sulphate, propylene glycol, chemical sunscreen, and parabens.

We also add SKINFUSE® SURGE COLLAGEN BOOST to help maintain the skin remodeling effect post-microneedling by delivering high concentrations of Vitamin A and Vitamin C, both oil-soluble for collagen remodeling and water-soluble for antioxidant protection in a time-release formulation delivered by a dual-pump bottle. SURGE is important because it has been researched to:

Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Help provide smoother looking skin.

Help provide nutrients to assist the skin’s barrier response.

Enhance the skin’s repair process.

Our DOCTORS

Aesthetic procedures using PRP are performed by Dr. Rachel Burnett, ND. Orthopedic procedures using PRP are performed by Dr. Matthew Burnett, ND.

Our doctors started using regenerative medicine with traditional prolotherapy or regenerative injection therapy (RIT) for orthopedics and mesotherapy (microneedling) for aesthetics and pain in 2004 during their residency under the mentorship of Dr. Harry Adelson, regenerative medicine expert. They have treated many patients successfully with injection therapies and have advanced training in these specialty areas.

Dr. Rachel and the staff are trained by Bellus Medical, creators of the first FDA-cleared microneedling device. She is certified by Bellus Medical through their SkinPen® training course, by The Advanced Regenerative Medicine Institute for aesthetics and sexual optimization, and by WorldLink Medical for PRP Face Rejuvenation and PRP Hair Restoration.
